Today is SeaWorld day. My ankle hurts and this together with menstrual cramp made me rather irritated. I prefer Sea World to Movie World. It has more attractions. But a visit to the Sea World is like a visit to the zoo. There's dolphins. polar bear, sharks etc. There's a underwater walkway to view the sharks and other fishes. I find it pretty much like our own Underwater World, but our walkway is longer. We also tried one of the more harmless slides. We also took the cable car and monorail within Seaworld itself before we left for our journey to Noosa which is a 5 hr bus/train ride.
The journey from Goldcoast to Brisbane City is a sleeping journey. I was so tired that I just dozed off on the train. We had to transfer to Gympie Express line to take the train to Noosa. I was surprised that the train on the Gympie Express was full and that there were no seats for us. We had to stand and since it's an express train , we had to wait for quite a while before the train reached the next stop. We met a friendly Australian lady while on the train. She was chatting with us while all of us were waiting for seats.
When we reached the Nambour train station to catch the bus to Noosa, it's already 7 plus and well the sky was pretty dark by then. It's autumn/winter period , so the sky turned dark pretty early. The bus was early so we ran to the bus just in case the bus driver drove off, but the bus driver clearly was waiting for a while. We decided to ask the bus driver about our bus stop as we wanted to be sure especially it's pretty dark then. The driver then told us something that made me worried. The bus's gonna take a another route instead of the usual bus route due to some road works along the usual route. My god.. I was asking the bus driver which stop should I alight then and he was assuring me that he would drop me somewhere near our resort.
Shortly after, the bus driver did something which made us lost the trust. He was telling the passengers that he made a wrong turn. That didn't sound too professional. The bus journey was rather about 1 hour so as the time passed by, I was a bit panicky. I wondered if the bus driver would remind us when to alight and also wondered if we were able to recognise the place in the darkness. I went up to the bus driver a second time to get assurance that he would remind us when it's the stop near our resort. Despite all these, the bus driver forgot to remind us. As we passed by Sheraton, I knew he has missed the stop as Sheraton was near to the terminal bus stop. As I told my friends about it, he turned back and told us that he forgot to remind us when he passed by the stop. He then made a U turn back and dropped us off at a very dark road. Before alighting, he even reminded us not to speak to strangers. I was pretty puzzled by what he said. Did he mean that we were naive?
There weren't many street lightings and we just had to figure it ourselves. As we reached a cross road, we stopped and I was trying to figure the way to go using the map. I decided on the route to go but I wanted some assurance from my friends. Just as we were trying to figure out, we saw a cab and decided to hail it. The cab driver wasn't able to send us to the doorstep due to the roadworks (again!), but he was able to point us to the right directions.
When we reached the resort, we were shocked to find that the reception was closed! I had notified them of our arrival timing, so I didn't expect them to be closed. Just as we were wondering what to do , we saw an envelope on the glass door. It's meant for us and it stated that the keys were placed in the safe and we had been given the access code. I was scratching my head.. We weren't given any access code, so we had to call them for the access code. Being an auditor, I felt that there were no proper internal controls! Anyone could have just called them and get the keys! We couldn't find our unit so we decided to walk along the quiet road, dragging our luggages along. This was a bad move as we met some rowdy ang moh guys. C and I decided to heck care and continued to walk, hoping that they wouldn't come close. J responded to them and the bunch of guys were shouting "weaklings". Luckily they didn't come near us. By then, we were pretty scared. We even contemplated to order home delivery instead of walking to the nearby restuarants. Eventually, we still went out for dinner as we needed to buy some mineral water. This part of our trip has been truly "memorable".
